What to Expect

Finding the right therapist can be challenging and take some work! But feeling connected and safe is essential to the work you will do in therapy. It takes a lot of courage to open your life up to someone else, to be vulnerable and willing to work on yourself. I place a high priority on creating a safe space for clients to share. We get enough judgment, commentary and opinions elsewhere in life. I strive to provide my clients with increased understanding of themselves, what brings them joy, sadness, anger and every emotion in between. I help clients to identify what’s working in their life and what isn’t. We then start to set goals and figure out step by step how to move toward those goals. I take a person-centered approach, work collaboratively with each client and prioritize the therapeutic relationship. Every client is in need of something different, and as therapists we have to listen closely and use our experience, education and creative minds to figure out how best to support each client. I used a variety of evidence based therapeutic techniques including CBT, DBT and EMDR. I am passionate about helping individuals struggling with low self-esteem, body image, social anxiety, codependency and communication issues. I approach things from a systems perspective and believe that often times something in our system isn't working well. This means diving into relational work and learning better ways to communicate our needs with others. I have experience working in more intensive treatment settings for eating disorders, substance use and chronic pain. Please reach out and setup a free consult! I would love to hear more about your current needs, to see if we might be a good fit. I work with older teens (16+) and adults.
